24 Hour Fitness LA fitness Ballys Golds Gym and Life Time Fitness
Hello My name is Daniel, I am the Vice president of marketing for Fit Body Life and I would like to share with you some of my thoughts on the different gyms out there. I managed Some of these gyms for over 6 years of my life and these are my findings...

Which gym and why???

Which one do you go to, the one down the street or the one that gives you the best deal? Every gym has the same equipment like weights, cardio and machines but what separates them from each other? 24 Hour Fitness, LA Fitness, Ballys, Golds and Lifetime are some of the biggest names of the health club industry.

When it comes to convenience you have to go with 24 HR Fitness. They rule the West coast and are focusing on obtaining a dominant presence in the East. Having decent monthly rates (if you buy online), keeps them in the game but everyday there can be a different special and every hour the specials can change, Crazy I know. Trust me its not fun for the sales team either. So while you may think you got a good deal, look closer into what you're really getting. They may have quantity but they certainly do not have quality. With 180 gyms in California you think maintenance would be last year's issue. Unfortunately it's not, I think 24 HR fitness has some of the dirtiest gyms that exist. They cut back on the cleaning crews and insist that minimum wage employees grab the rag and make up for it. 24HR Fitness spends a million dollars a month on marketing in orange county alone, but can't afford a decent cleaning crew for their members! Whats up with that???

Now besides the fact that 24 only cares about getting your money and how they want to sell you everything and anything, thats where I would work out. They have the most convenient locations and they are open 24 hours, even on most holidays.

Now 24HR Fitness may need help with cleanliness, but the award for filthiest club goes to Bally's. There is one upside, they dim the lights down so low the dirtiness is masked. I would never workout in a Ballys or ever tell anyone to go there.

Now LA fitness lacks locations but makes up for it with big beautiful gyms. They have nice equipment and have big open spaces to work out in. The only thing with memberships you have to look out for is when they over charge you for things you don't need, like baby sitting or towel service. They also have been known to double charge you for your monthly fee and even other random charges for things you have never purchased. Their hours of operation are very limited. They don't have enough locations so when its prime time for working out (4pm - 10pm) they are very crowded. I would recommend LA fitness only if that was the closest gym to you.

Golds Gym are franchised so you have a different experience every time you walk into one of their gyms. They usually have more serious people that are just their for working out. They can be very expensive based on their so called "Exclusivity". But they have nice equipment and I would recommend Golds Gym to anyone that is serious about just working out.

Lifetime is a YMCA for kids with gym equipment. If you like swimming pools and playgrounds have fun at Lifetime fitness. They have huge gyms with a lot of stuff! Sometimes you can even get lost trying to find equipment. But don't worry just ask the 200 kids that are running around where the bench press is and they will direct you to the right way.

Tell me what you think or ask any questions. I want to hear it all based on your thoughts. Do you agree or disagree? What gyms do you like or dislike??? What are your experiences???
